MAJOR EXPLORATION PODCAST BENCHMARK
Going through the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and their “Occupational Outlook Handbook” I found out that most people that get a bachelor’s degree in English end up working in educational instruction and library occupations. While I don’t plan to go into Education or a library occupation I didn’t realize that, that is what most people ended up going into. Something that disappointed me was the fact that in chart 2 there is a -2 percent growth for editors projected 2023-33. I didn’t expect that, But I am interested in editing so hearing that disappointed me a little bit. Learning that 63% of people are employed in jobs that require at least a bachelor’s degree, which is more than all other fields which I did not realize, that most jobs you might wanna do you need a bachelor’s degree. Reading chart 2, I started reading about Art Directors which I did not realize would interest me but it did. Art Directors are “responsible for the visual style and images in magazines, newspapers, product packaging and movie and television productions” And that sounded really interesting to me to do.
